City of Lawrence street crews use a new machine Wednesday that repairs potholes with a method called spray injection patching. The method, which also is used by the Kansas Department of Transportation, allows the city to make lasting fixes to potholes during winter.
Lawrence Memorial Hospital cook Robert Wagner places a tray of chicken into an oven that has been in use since the mid-1980s. On Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2010, the hospital's board approved a $3.2 million renovation of the hospital's kitchen. The renovation is among $9 million in capital improvements included in the 2011 budget.
