Jack "Lefty" Leftwich, 93, of McLouth, has been flying for 70 years. Most of his career was spent with Pan Am, and for a portion of it he flew seaplanes in the South Pacific during World War II. Now he flies his ultralight plane on nice days.

Jack “Lefty” Leftwich, 93, of McLouth, recalls the days he flew a sea plane during World War II, and how he navigated by the stars. Leftwich has been flying for some 70 years as he flew in WWII and for Pan Am.
Jack "Lefty" Leftwich, 93, of McLouth, has been flying for 70 years, mostly with Pan Am during WWII and after. He now flies an ultralight plane that he keeps in a hangar next to his home.
Jack Leftwich flew seaplanes during WWII for Pan Am, such as this Boeing 314. Leftwich had to go through special training to learn how to make water landings.
Jack "Lefty" Leftwich, 93, of McLouth, has been flying planes for 70 years. Now he flies an ultralight plane on summer days, which he keeps in a hangar next to his home. He takes off and lands on a 1,600-foot airstrip next to his house.
