The Oct. 20 Mentoring Day in Lawrence was hosted by The Oread and sponsored by Independence Inc.
The Oread hosted high school students from Lawrence and Eudora for an Oct. 20 Mentoring Day, a career development and mentoring opportunity for youths sponsored by Independence Inc. From left, George Wormsley of Lawrence High School shadowed Lauren Hansen, restaurant manager for Bird Dog and FIVE 21 at The Oread. Wormsley learned management duties during a typical lunch period at the hotel. Also participating, but not shown, was Brianda Rosales of Free State High School, who shadowed Aubrey Cain, wedding director for The Oread and The Eldridge.
