John Hawkes portrays Lawrence artist Stan Herd in the film “Earthwork.” The feature is slated to premiere at the Austin Film Festival at the end of the month.
Jason Schwartz, Lawrence, uses a device to immediately check the value of a particular book on Amazon.com during the Friends of the Lawrence Public Library’s fall book sale. Thursday was opening night, which drew in many local library members and book dealers. The sale continues through Tuesday, with giveaway days on Oct. 10 and 11.
