Keith Dowell, Lawrence, competes in the recent Bupa Great North Run Half-Marathon in Newcastle Upon Tyne, U.K. He finished the 13.1 mile race in 1 hour, 29 minutes and 29 seconds, finishing ninth out of 950 runners in his age group, and in the top 10 percent of 54,000 runners. Treven Gill, 4, and his 77-year-old great-grandmother, Georgia Smith, play basketball in a second attempt. On their first attempt, Smith fell and fractured her wrist and pelvis. Her doctor had said the goal was for her to be playing basketball again by fall, and that mission was accomplished. Smith’s husband, Dick Smith, Lawrence, took and submitted the picture.
