The future groom is the son of Robin Gingerich, Lawrence, and Steve Hazel, Mission Hills. He is a 2000 graduate of Free State High School. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in public policy from Duke University in Durham, N.C., in 2004 and a juris doctorate from Georgetown University Law School. He is a judicial clerk for the Honorable Dorothy Nelson of the U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in Pasadena, Calif., and will join the law firm of Wilmer Hale in Washington D.C. as an associate in 2010.
The couple plan an Aug. 22, 2009, wedding on the Claxton Farm in Asheville, N.C.

Members of Cans for the Community donated $1,000 to the Lawrence Memorial Hospital Endowment Fund for the pediatric department April 15 at LMH. From left are Susan Thomas, LMH compliance and audit coordinator; Linda Klinker, Cans for the Community chairwoman; and Stan Zaremba, LMH Endowment Association past president. The organization has a can recycling partnership with LMH and Thomas serves as the liaison. Cans for the Community recycled 4,000 pounds to raise $1,000. The group has donated $38,000 to local charities since August 2005.

Elmer “Mo” and Charlotte “Charlie” Epperson, Bella Vista, Ark., will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. June 6 at 2265 N. 1137th Road in Eudora.
The couple were married May 19, 1959, at the Terra Heights Baptist Church in Topeka.
They lived in Topeka, before moving to Alma and later settled in Lawrence for 30 years. They retired to Bella Vista, Ark., in 2002.
They have four sons, Alan, Topeka, Eric and wife Marge, Eudora, and Aron and Paul, both of Bella Vista, Ark.; and two grandchildren.
A daughter Stacy Epperson preceded them in death.
