Behind the Lens - Photographer Not Camera

It is the photographer, not the camera, that makes a photograph interesting. Using a portable point-and-shoot camera a photographer can still incorporate a variety of visual techniques to enhance their images.

I was fascinated by the all the globes of lights hanging in this K.C. restaurant so I used my pocketable digital P&S camera to document the scene. Because the room dark I placed the camera on the tabletop to brace it for a longer exposure. But I maintained a low ISO of 100 for better quality. The automatic exposure ended up being 1/4 second at f4.6.
