Stained glass windows that were damaged in the fire last year have been restored, and embellished with a light inside each one.
Members of Eudora United Methodist Church on Sunday had their first service in their new church since a fire last year destroyed the sanctuary. The Rev. Michael Tomson-Degreeff conducted the children’s worship near the front of the sanctuary, where the fire started.

Pastor Michael Tomson-DeGreeff, left, greets members of the Eudora United Methodist Church congregation after a Dec. 14 morning service at the Warren-McElwain Chapel in Eudora. Members of the church had worshipped in the mortuary for 18 months while their new church near Kansas Highway 10 was under construction. Weeks after the church opened, it suffered severe fire damage, and the congregation returned to worshipping in the mortuary, where they will celebrate Christmas together.
