The Kansas City Outlaws Pee Wee A hockey team finished second in the Missouri Hockey Inc. state championships on March 7 at the Rec Plex in St. Peters, Mo. The Veritas Christian Junior High boys basketball team (15-3 in regular season play) brought home the second-place trophy after playing in the Kansas Christian Athletic Association Class 2A State Tournament at Wichita. The 2009 student exchange group from Encarnacion, Paraguay, celebrates an arrival in Lawrence with a welcome party at the home of Brent and Elizabeth Crandon.
