Bill and Margo Gordon, Lawrence, enjoy a visit from their 9-month-old granddaughter Catherine Cook in 1988. At the time, Bill had chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and was on oxygen. His wife, Margo, was the primary caregiver during his two and a half years with the illness. They also received help from the Douglas County Visiting Nurses Association and a hospice agency. Bill died in 1990 at age 79.
