Slick conditions may have contributed to this two-vehicle accident in the eastbound lane of I-70 just west of the Kansas River bridge Tuesday. Emergency personnel work the scene about 1:30 p.m. The photo is from the Michigan Street bridge over I-70, looking to the east.
Snow falls on Derek Peterson, a KU sophomore from Overland Park, on his way home. Temperatures dropped and the snow started to fall Tuesday morning. Snowfall is now expected to exceed 2 inches as the cold front passes.
Blowing snow and cold temperatures greeted many who ventured out in Tuesday's snowfall. KU students crossed campus as university workers attempted to keep the sidewalks clear for those who had classes. KU's classes end Thursday with finals next week.
Blowing snow and cold temperatures discouraged many Lawrencians from going out into the snow Tuesday. Some KU students were met with university employees clearing snow from sidewalks.
Footprints and tire tracks in the snow create a pattern around a KU student Tuesday, as she passes through a parking lot near the Spencer Museum of Art. A small amount of snow, accompanied by cold winds, fell on Lawrence.
