Del Christensen poses with one of his custom-made electric bikes in front of his house. From mountain bikes that have gone unused for years to specially designed new ones, Christensen has converted bikes to electric for customers as far away as Spain and as close to home as his neighbors in northern Lawrence.

Del Christensen sits amongst electric bikes outside his garage in northern Lawrence. Two years ago, he started an Internet-based business to convert electric bikes and build custom new ones. Every time gas prices go up, so does the traffic on his Web site.
