They were honored for their excellence in collecting, preserving, teaching and supporting history at a dinner hosted by the Douglas County Historical Society on Aug 11. Oldfather, a longtime philanthropist whose $4 million gift in 2000 started the Douglas County Community Foundation, died Oct. 2.

Booth, a longtime radio personality, received the humanitarian contribution award in recognition of his projects that benefit Lawrence residents. Distlehorst and Penner received the architectural enhancement award on behalf of Delaware Street Commons. The Lawrence Board of Realtors presented the 15th annual awards Sept. 18.
