Frog Hunting
Waist-deep in the Clinton Wetlands, Patrick Spurgeon, 17, hunts for bullfrogs at night using a flashlight, a gunny sack, and a quick hand for grabbing. The wetlands northwest of Clinton Lake are drying up, stressing the diverse plant and animal species native to the area. Spurgeon hunted for bullfrogs in late August with his father, John, and Mike Hayden, Secretary of the Kansas Wildlife and Parks Department.
