2006 Rock Chalk Ball February 11, 2006

The 11th annual Rock Chalk Ball attracted some of Kansas University's biggest fans to help raise funds for scholarships. The night's theme was "The Stars Come Out at Night." Among the guests were Mark Mangino, head football coach; KU chancellor Robert Hemenway; and Don Fambrough, former KU head football coach. The Kansas City Alumni Chapter and KU Alumni Association were hosts of the black-tie event Feb. 3 at the Overland Park Convention Center. The evening's festivities - attended by about 630 people - included cocktails, live and silent auctions, dinner and dancing. Music was provided by The Kansas City Boulevard Big Band and auctioneers were The Nigro Brothers. KU alumnus Bill Farmer, an actor who voices cartoon characters Goofy, Foghorn Leghorn and Yosemite Sam, was emcee. This year's event chairs were Justin and Jean Pinne Anderson, Lawrence, and Brian and Barbara King, Leawood. Established in 1996, the ball has raised more than $1 million to help assist KU students.
