Death ride
A cyclist rides along the scenic-but-sweltering Flint Hills during the Flint Hills Death Ride, a grueling 58-mile mountain-bike ride. The event July 30 in Madison - about 20 miles south of Emporia - drew 100 riders, 63 of whom finished.
