They spent spring break visiting Andrew's father, Mark Algren, director of the Intensive English Program at the American University of Sharja. Sgt. 1st Class Michael L. Pomes, Lawrence, receives the Army Commendation Medal from Lt. Col. Stanley Wagstaff, of the Land Component, Joint Forces Headquarters of the Kansas Army National Guard in Topeka. Pomes received the award for helping his unit, the 102nd Military History Detachment in Topeka, complete Exercise Delbruck at Fort McPherson and the Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park and Exercise SLAM at the Chickamauga National Battlefield Park in Georgia.
