Jennifer Benitez stands in front of her new home Sunday at 1813 E. 17th St. On Friday morning, there was nothing but a building slab and driveway there, but dozens of volunteer members of the Lawrence Home Builders Association joined together for the Lawrence Blitz Build for Habitat for Humanity. "It's a blessing," said Benitez, the mother of two children: daughter, Loren, 15, and son, Eric, 14. Benitez has worked on five homes for Habitat for Humanity, and she said that normally it takes about four to six months to complete a house. Her family will move into the three-bedroom, one-bathroom home at the end of the month. Numerous local contractors came together to complete the house in two and a half days.

I am so glad they have this, having a nice home will make all the difference in the world as to how they think about themselves and also others. We do respond to our environment and and each is a reflection of the other. Bless all those who worked to make this happen.

Ms. Benitez is a wonderful woman and having worked so hard for others now she is reaping the rewards of her labor.
