Ferrol Lattin, a member of Lawrence Friends of the Library and a crew chief in the children’s book area, sorts though stacks of books Monday in the garage of the Lawrence Public Library. The Friends of the Library’s fall book sale begins Thursday, 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., for members; for nonmembers, the first opportunity will be Friday, 11a.m. to 7 p.m. Friends of the Library is a nonprofit organization that raises funds through memberships due and book sales to support library collections, programs and services.
