Cameron Williams, 3, with his mother Laura Williams, Lawrence, was one of the first two children to sign up for a library card and benefit from the new "Dr. Bob Book" program during a reception Friday, Oct. 5, 2012, at the Lawrence Public Library. The program, which was created by the family of former Kansas University athletics director Bob Frederick, provides a free book and bookmark for children who sign up to get their first library card. The books are about nutrition, exercise and good sportsmanship — all values that Frederick embodied.
