The Visiting Nurses Association’s Lawrence office recently celebrated 43 years of serving Douglas County and the surrounding area. Helping to blow out candles and cut the birthday cake is Pat Donahue, Board of Directors president. VNA, which provides home health care and support services, officially opened its doors Feb. 2, 1969, and in its first year, provided 180 visits to 25 patients. In 2011, it provided 37,507 visits to 975 patients. Lori McSorley of VNA submitted the photo.
