It’s a very intimate setting," Averill says.
Lawrence Arts Center artist-in-residence Nicolette Ross crafted several backdrops out of paper for the upcoming production.
"Dead Man's Cell Phone" marks the debut of the refurbished black box theatre and the new professional theater company.

Kitty Steffens, Lawrence, plays Jean the female protagonist in "Dead Man's Cell Phone," a written by Sarah Ruhl. Doogin Brown, Kansas City, Mo., plays the titular dead man. "It’s a very beautiful and surreal dark comedy," Steffens says.
