Three Free State High School students attended the Rotary Youth Leadership Academy held June 6-10. They were chosen to participate by the Lawrence Rotary clubs. From left are Matthew McReynolds, Kaitlin McKinney, Lawrence Rotary Club President Nancy Longhurst, Ana Slough, and Barbara Ballard, chairwoman of Youth Leadership committee. Other students who attended, not shown, were Kelsey Consolver of Lawrence High School and Amanda Mast of Free State. RYLA is held annually in Kansas to provide leadership training to young adults. This year’s weeklong program was held at Kansas University. More than 80 students from across the state participated in this year’s program. The students reported on their experiences at the Oct. 4 club meeting.
