The Douglas County Conservation District’s 64th annual meeting and dinner was Feb. 8 at the Douglas County Fairgrounds. Each year the district gives awards to farmers, their spouses and landlords for outstanding conservation efforts. From left are Eileen McGivern, Zak Bolic of Douglas County Bank, Theresa Cain and Dan Cain. The Cains were winners of the Kansas Bankers Association Award for Soil Conservation. McGivern is their daughter, and Bolic presented the award, which was sponsored by the bank. During the meeting, Roger Kitsmiller was elected to a two-year term as district supervisor.
