An immigrant takes out the trash Friday in the stairwell of the former Court of Appeals building in central Athens. About 500 immigrants, the vast majority men from Morocco and Algeria, have taken over the eight-story former courthouse. The squalid conditions inside the building, which has no electricity, running water or sewage, could easily spread disease, aid workers say.
