A dedicated flash sync cord is a handy device to get your flash off your camera for close subjects and macro photography. This Nikon coiled cord can extend up to over 6 feet and relays all the camera settings and through-the-lens metering to the flash. One side of the subject is lit well from the main light source, while an interaction of shadows and light is created on the opposite side. The same effect can be created with a larger set-up consisting of a light stand and a larger diffuser like an umbrella.
