Stephen Maurer, who serves as director of the Information Technology and Homeland Security Project at the University of California at Berkeley, is being recognized for his work on behalf of the Tropical Disease Initiative, a global health initiative he helped develop. Maurer, who grew up in Lawrence, joins Bill Gates, Oprah Winfrey and others on Business 2.0 Magazine's "50 Who Matter Now," a listing of "the executives, entrepreneurs, and cutting-edge innovators who are setting today's business agenda."
