Laurie McLeod-Schoppach walks past a row of trees that seemingly emerged prematurely from winter as light snow falls in Hays. Parts of northwestern Kansas received 3 inches of snow Monday, while southwest Kansas recorded about an inch. Although the eastern part of the state stayed dry, a frost advisory was in effect this morning for the Lawrence area.
