A Lawrence Police officer and a Kansas Bureau of Investigation agent stand on the west side of Wescoe Hall after a man with a rifle was seen entering the building. The gunman sought Wednesday turned out to be a teaching assistant in the history department who brought the rifle to Kansas University as a class tool. While the incident happened before national news broke of a shooting at New York City's City Hall, KU employees were disturbed by the event.
