A Boeing 737 fuselage passes on a train through downtown Wichita. Boeing ships 280 sections a year of the partial planes by rail to Renton, Wash., for final assembly and delivery. This section was delivered in October. Sections of the 747, 757 and 767 models also are manufactured and shipped by rail from Wichita. Boeing's announcement of the 7E7 plane and congressional action on the 767 refueling tankers bode well for the long-term health of the region's biggest employer, which suffered during 2003.
