Pedestrians pass in front of the entrance to the Millennium Hilton Hotel in New York. The hotel, which faces the World Trade Center site, was heavily damaged in the attacks of Sept. 11 and remains closed. Economists estimate the attack cost the city economy more than $80 billion and some 97,500 jobs.
