The Kansas National Guard entrance was blocked Tuesday afternoon in
Leavenworth as security was tightened around the military fort
Security was tightened Tuesday afternoon at the federal
penitentiary in Leavenworth. Security guards with shotguns were
placed at every entrance leading to the penitentiary.
On Tuesday afternoon, gasoline prices for unleaded reached as high
as $5.62 for a brief period at the Conoco statioon at 23rd and
Haskell. It was lowered later in the day to $1.99 per gallon.
