Ray Ettinger of Independence, Mo., holds a small portion of the scarf he knitted that is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's longest knitted scarf. The scarf, begun in 1995, is 7 inches wide by 3,523 feet long. It fills two large boxes in the back of his van.
