Michael Rawlings, a former advertising executive, was brought in as Pizza Hut's president in 1997. Executives at Pizza Hut and its new parent, Tricon Global Restaurants Inc., began repairing the Dallas-based chain's image by closing some restaurants and spending $125 million to renovate 120 more part of a $1 billion facelift during the next five to seven years.
