Letter to the editor: Missed opportunity

To the editor:

One might not be surprised, but I was disappointed in our president.

I think our president could have given our nation a real positive direction. I think his advisers could have brought him praise if he would have issued comments or tweets during John McCain’s funeral, thanking him for a life of service from Vietnam to Capitol Hill. Could the president not appreciate one who bore the scars of Vietnam and former presidential candidate?

This would have been more emphatic in the context of being one not invited to the funeral.

Don Conrad,

Lawrence
