Letter to the editor: Keep Audio-Reader
To the editor:
Audio-Reader must continue its mission! I realized its importance when my mother, who lived alone, was no longer able to read the Journal-World and other printed material. The little Audio-Reader radio was her daily companion. When I retired and returned to Lawrence, I resolved to read news for Audio-Reader and I have continued to do so for 23 years.
Audio-Reader serves a particular population with a special need. It is part of the extensive web of nonprofit organizations that serve a diversity of needs and that, together, make Lawrence a city that supports all of our people. We must tend and nurture this aspect of our city that makes Lawrence the special community we enjoy.
Austin H. Turney,
Lawrence
