To the editor:

I saw another reason why I love Lawrence at the Fiddling and Picking Championships Sunday in South Park.

During one of the performances, a man carrying a large piece of cardboard with “Smoke Crack — Worship Satan” scrawled in huge letters sat down by the stage with the sign pointed at the audience. The music stopped as festival officials tried to get him to leave. He refused. The exchange heated up as officials, audience members and even musicians from the stage told him that this was inappropriate at a family event.

He wouldn’t budge, insisting on his right to free speech. Audience members got more angry and the situation was starting to get ugly when a man walked up to him and sat down directly in front of the sign. Another man instantly joined him and then a woman. This had the effect of both blocking the sign and staring the guy straight in the face. He caved within minutes and left. Yep, I love Lawrence.
