Tomorrows OTS; Do you enjoy croquet?

There will be blood . . .

Dang it. Now I will never know what golf had to do with all those other things. There was so much chum in the water I couldn't see the fish.

Neighbor just called, asked why there was a red strobe on at the bunker . . . Told him it was a "need to know" thing. 2:00PM came and went, then 3:00. Standing down to orange . . .

As fast and furious as things happen around here, could I request there being a 'flushing' sound effects when someone is disappeareded. That and getting rid of threaded comments would be just spiffy.

Not with a golf club, but with a rifle-only been home two weeks-part of training was to shoot golf balls at one thousand feet!!! Hard Fun!!!!!Lots of shouting. But in time you learned........... Anybody out there looking for a hunting or fishing buddy-mine are all gone.Alone is just no fun, need someone to talk with!!! Just asking, don't want any trouble-already been there in another world, but not here, and looking to stay that way-Need a elk hunting buddy-in colorado,or even white tail here-I have no permission anywhere, just looking that is it-I do like to fish also!! Also if you do like golfing nothing wrong with that.....Go Marines !!!!

I do enjoy a round of golf every now and again. Used to play all the time but now I'm lucky if I get out once or twice a summer. But I go fishing about 217 times between March and October.

0

Fore!!!!!!!! /for those that need something golf mentioned in the comment

Some folks need to just pick up their balls and go home if they aren't happy around here.

Another "You're not the boss of me!" learns a lesson. Whitney rules. I would say "I got your back" but the truth is, thank you for having mine.

I bet Whitney has more fun things to do today. Me too.

Golfing is fine for those that enjoy it.Why does the J/W allow those that don't even speak about it on here??Like the ones shooting or doing odd things and speaking of jobs at a gas station? What does that have to with golf??

I think I saw Ronaldo on the way home with the spawn. This lime green Volkswagon hippie van nearly ran me off the road. It had tie-dye tapestries covering the windows, so I could only see silhouettes of the kids, bobbing their heads to "Wooden Ships" by Crosby, Stills and Nash, which was blaring out the windows along with some skunky smelling smoke. I thought about calling SRS but then I saw my man at the wheel. It's all good.

I don't think I would tell anybody about ratting out golfers hitting balls into my yard. You irritate enough of them you could have a foursome lined up in the fairway with buckets of balls...firing at random at your house.....I certainly would be spiteful enough to do something like that...especially if we were drinking. And if we were golfing....on a golf course....of course we'd be drinking.

I go out to the golf course with my friends. I don't golf. I treat it like clay practice. The tee-off and I start shooting. Sometimes the balls are sliced into an adjoining yard and windows get shot out. Once, I shot out a camera and motion detector thingymajig.

Nobody likes to play golf. Nobody. The other golfers hurt you, sometimes very badly. First you play because your father wants you to. Then you play to get the girls. If you keep on playing, you do it for scholarships, and to get the girls. Then you play for the money and the girls. Then you get to just watch the matches, and that's fun. But nobody likes to play golf. Nobody.

0

autie 3 years, 1 month ago

Calm down Hollis. Skullky couldn't be more wrong. One cannot use lead shot while waterfowling but that's it. You can go on public hunting land adjacent to lakes and rivers whatever and blast your ass off with lead depending on who is in season. Put that in your kayak and smoke it.

0

RoeDapple 3 years, 1 month ago

Challenge Accepted!!! Boneboy is bluffing! Just got off the phone with Kansas Fish and Game, no such law in place except for upland bird and certain locations. Talked to office at Clinton Lake and Pratt Kansas. Got a little chuckle when told it was a kayaker whining.

0

HollisBrown 3 years, 1 month ago

Wildlife and Parks? You mean like Mike Hayden? That guy is a blast. I used to sneak up on him and scare him when he was taking a nap in his truck out at Clinton Lake. Hell, we even used to have BB pistol fights down at the river. He dumped plenty of lead in there. As a matter of fact, he once told a buch of hippies in kayaks to get the hell out of the water because they were blocking the fish he was shooting at. Great guy!

The state banned the useof lead a few years ago on all public waters-rifles,shotguns,anything it just does not matter--Now you get the wildlife and parks dept to stand there with you while you do it,and find out what happens.. I am not fightin with anybody over nothing on this sigt-Just not worth talking with people who do not know the public water rules!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now goodbye-Don't waste yours or my time. I kayak the river several times a year, don't like folks shooting-smeday someone will shoot someone,Then you will know the facts.....

0

autie 3 years, 1 month ago

can you provide a statute on that skull boy? Tell me I cain't shoot my .22 down at the river.....bogus.

0

Skullhunter 3 years, 1 month ago

RoeDapple-When shooting at golf balls on a sandbar-I take it that is in the Kansas river-are you using lead? Not legal-just adding more polution to a very over poluted river-go shoot at a proper shooting range. Just another person adding to the destruction of our world. You can be and will arrested if caught....Always looking for you folks target shooting on or around and public water or parks!!!!

Yes. I play as often as possible. I do not drink when I play. I am pretty serious and consider myself a long driver and sometimes shoot some pretty good scores and can break 80. Never broken par but have come close. I took up the game as adult and did not get to play it in school playing football instead.

You either like golf or you don't.

It is a very hard sport. People who make fun of it usually are the ones who are not athletic enough to figure out the golf swing. The reality is golf requires skill, coordination, mental awareness, and control of your body and emotions and a lot of touch and feel around the greens. Brute force helps with driving the ball but that is about it.

In other words, it eliminates most of the emotion wrecks that regularly post on this site....

Hell, I worked for the Apco stations in Lawrence in '65/'66, gas was 24.9cents/gal. with gas wars at 19.9cents. Now, if a camel sneezes in Tripoli the price jumps up by more than that! ('Course, $3.50/hr was good wages back then, I was makin' $1.60)

0

HollisBrown 3 years, 1 month ago

Thanks, Prospector. Interesting. When I moved back here in Aug. '96 I vividly remember gas being .99/gallon. I know it's not 1996, but still. Another theory I have is around the mid 90's was when everyone decided to start buying SUV's and minivans. I mean really, does anyone really need a Suburban? And then you also have to factor in the Somali Pirates.

0

gphawk89 3 years, 1 month ago

Yep. Dad taught me how. Grew up playing on sand-greens courses. Can't putt on grass greens worth a darn. Anyone else here every play on sand greens?

Yeah, no biggie. As long as I can still get a fifth of vodka in a plastic bottle for 5.99, I'll survive. Suze Rotolo was a good lady. I don't think Bob was very nice to her. He wasn't nice to a lot of people back then. He climbed on a lot of backs to be Bob Dylan. Treated Joan Baez like garbage, but I think they still hook up sometimes. He's getting older now, and I don't think he feels too good about a lot of things he did back then. God Bless, Suze. http://i.telegraph.co.uk/multimedia/archive/01216/dylan-album_1216358c.jpg

Ain't this interweb special.

I like what Boone Pickens sez about natural gas.

Fact, if you put $25 of diesel in a vehicle today, that same vehicle would get just as far on $4 of natural gas. And damn, even if it was the same, It is made in America. Not imported from unreliable places. (See today). If we got serious about it the US would need to import Zero barrels of oil and not have a trade deficit..

Oh yeah, chasing golf balls across the sand bar with the .22 can be great fun! Blowing the backs out of bowling pins with the .44 is good too, but those bad boys are tough. They'll take a lot of hits before the splinters start to fly. A 320gr. JHP loaded to around 1260fps will send 'em flyin' though . . .

Oh, don't you know it! When I tee off that ball gets at least 4 inches off the ground. Nothing like paying to chase a stupid egg around for 18 holes. I worked on the grounds crew at Alvamar when I was in HS. One evening while I was off in the woods some idiot sliced his ball really hard. Next thing I know I woke up on the ground with a gaping hole in my earlobe. I do have a cool golf cart, though. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6gBs_m...

Golf; Imported from China http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/this-britain/chinese-invented-golf-1000-years-ago-522596.html "The Dutch talk of a 13th-century sport called "colf"; the French say they first had the idea with "palle-mail" in the 1400s; but it is the Scots who have been most widely credited with having invented the game of golf. Another country laid claim to the game. According to Professor Ling Hongling of Lanzhou University, the Chinese were playing golf 1,000 years ago. He says he has found a reference to a game called chuiwan - chui meaning to hit and wan meaning ball. Players used 10 clubs, including a cuanbang (equivalent to a driver today) and a shaobang (a three wood or spoon). Royalty inlaid their clubs with jade, edged them with gold and decorated the shafts elaborately."

Demolitionist when asked "aren' t you scared of such a dangerous job? answer- better than dying drunk on a golf course hit by lightening.

0

I grew up with the game. My first job was picking up balls on a driving range. I was my dad's caddy when he competed in tournaments. I was the captain of my high school golf team. I taught my first wife to play. My second made me give up the game and give away my clubs. I haven't been on a course since. Oh, the things we do for love.

0

autie 3 years, 1 month ago

I mostly enjoyed catching the fish out of the water hazards and shooting their geese. But the game itself....ha...sometimes OK. As labmonkey has crucially suggested some players rules prohibit what the Presbyterians originally had in mind.
