I'm so jealous!Back before the flooded Thompson destroyed the cabins we frequented near Estes Park, I used to thrill at the antics of the chippys that would come down from the big trees, to eat 'nearly' out of our fingers. Did mom buy peanuts? No, but if my children would have had the opportunity, you bet I would have!

Multi and Ceallach - ms_c will even throw in lunch and dinner for no extra charge. And the price can't be beat, eh ceallach? Speaking of lunch, I had lunch today with a most charming companion. We enjoyed the sunny day out on my patio. I had a pasta salad and he had a yummy meal of sunflower seeds. The conversation was rather one sided but he did seem to pay close attention to my chatter. His little ears perked up when ever I mentioned sunflower seed butter pie. He just loves that.(just in case anyone thinks I have lost my marbles, some of you know that I love chipmunks and cater to them on my patio)

sgt..good one.I view it more as "it's been observed, but not by a spotter, therefore..it doesn't exist."If it was officially confirmed, it would be breaking news.;)

I see the weather report at the top of the page says "lightning observed." Is that like "[holiday] observed," where it's actually on another day, but we're moving it to today because it's more convenient and makes more people happy?

Multi, I heartily recommend ms_c's bed and breakfast :)

I apparently have a heavy storage basement too. Someone really could be living down there and I wouldn't know it. Of course, they would probably trip on something and expose themselves.People are always exposing themselves to me, I avoid elevators.=oAnyone who needs more to create their heavy storage decor, give me a call.I vote we all go to ms C's for the 1st and fly back for the 4th. Does the double decker still run at Perry, and on the 4th?

"Heavy storage" I love it! I feel much better now that I can categorize my closets as heavy storage space. Makes them sound much more respectable than they look :)

Multi-D - Yep, missed that one. BTW - our closets are too packed with stuff for anyone to hide in! A recent termite inspector put it gently, "Unable to do a complete inspection due to heavy storage".

Sue, I would love to be there for the 4th, but I don't see it happening this year; eastern Pennsylvania is calling my name. But I will be back to Kansas sooner or later!

Multi-D - I would say, 'Huh!?" but a better reply would be, 'No, my wife found her some months ago and now she is missing some feet.'

I just like to watch mine from my front porch. It's always a treat watching some drunken neighbor shoot a rocket into another neighbors gutter.....and then about 20 minutes later......here come the fire trucks!

ksdivakat - Be glad you are not in Ohio. You can buy fireworks here, but you have to sign a form that says you won't shoot them off in the state. Talk about stupid! As for the question, I'll respectfully decline to answer because I don't want to be a downer. I'll just say that the fireworks display I go to this year will be very bittersweet.

If the Royals are playing at home, I'll go to the game. Ballgame and fireworks, two for the price of one. If they are playing away I will be lurking on the road between RI and sue's, or maybe in blue's yard.ms_c: I can visualize your view of the display . . . (sigh) . . .

I wonder if the homeless woman living in blue's closet for the last year likes fireworks?

0

ksdivakat 5 years, 10 months ago

blueharley, but the "fireworks" cannot be sold inside city limits, and I know there is a stand right across the street from broken arrow between those 2 churches, so I assumed since they were selling them there that the park must be outside city limits as well.....I think this whole ban is stupid, just something else for the city to take away! But thanks for the info, I guess I wont be at broken arrow then!

Isnt the deal that it has to be outside city limits?? does that mean broken arrow park is ok to shoot them off?? Where can we take the kids to so that they will be able to do this? I think its a stupid law, but, what are ya gonna do? If anyone can answer this I woould much appreciate it! Thank you"Broken Arrow is inside city limits so it is not okay. Fireworks are okay in Dg. Co. but I don't know of any public places where it would be okay. Maybe Wells Overlook? Just don't try to do it at Wakarusa school or the Dg. Co. Sheriff will be called.

Since the sacred tiki torches are being passed onto the next sucker, I'll be shooting off tons of paper wrapped exploding devices in R_I's yard atop the mountain this year. *note to self: buy a mile long string of those firecracker thingies and check over the 4WD to make sure it will make it up the drive.sgt, I'm cordially inviting you to R_I's house for the 4th!!! Road trip!

I'm going to the Ozarks to watch, they put on a good show every year there, and you don't have to waste your $ on it.

Usually I can leave the mess at sunflower_sue's sprawling palatial grand estate. This year however, the spousal unit has formally requested the return of the sacred tiki torches.

These days, nowhere. My town used to have a fireworks show, but when Ann Arbor no longer had a show, everyone from Ann Arbor came out here to watch the fireworks, and it just became a big mess of traffic and people.

Blue's front yard. Check the bushes.

I take my family and spending money out of town and we have a blast. We shop there and cook there, even fill up the tank. Buy our fireworks and supplies there.Let those communities that allow people to celebrate enjoy our tax dollars. This year I figure I will spend $200 all total..not with Lawrence merchants.
