Where do you go to watch fireworks on the Fourth of July?
Asked at Massachusetts Street on June 19, 2008
“My friend lives by a golf course in Kansas City and they put on a good show every year, so I usually go there.”
“I always go out in the country to my one of my friends’ houses to shoot off my own. Mostly just stuff from the stands around town.”
“Stockton Lake in Stockton, Mo. My parents have a sailboat there, and all the boats gather over by the dam for the fireworks display.”
“I just like to set them off at my house and put on a show for my family, friends and neighbors. I always go all out on the Fourth of July.”

"Heavy storage" I love it! I feel much better now that I can categorize my closets as heavy storage space. Makes them sound much more respectable than they look :)

Usually I can leave the mess at sunflower_sue's sprawling palatial grand estate. This year however, the spousal unit has formally requested the return of the sacred tiki torches.

Since the sacred tiki torches are being passed onto the next sucker, I'll be shooting off tons of paper wrapped exploding devices in R_I's yard atop the mountain this year. *note to self: buy a mile long string of those firecracker thingies and check over the 4WD to make sure it will make it up the drive.sgt, I'm cordially inviting you to R_I's house for the 4th!!! Road trip!

blueharley, but the "fireworks" cannot be sold inside city limits, and I know there is a stand right across the street from broken arrow between those 2 churches, so I assumed since they were selling them there that the park must be outside city limits as well.....I think this whole ban is stupid, just something else for the city to take away! But thanks for the info, I guess I wont be at broken arrow then!

I'm going to the Ozarks to watch, they put on a good show every year there, and you don't have to waste your $ on it.

Just down the street... there's a couple who get all drunk-up on the holidays and weekends and they have a real donnybrook, wailing and flailing on each other... great fireworks!!!

These days, nowhere. My town used to have a fireworks show, but when Ann Arbor no longer had a show, everyone from Ann Arbor came out here to watch the fireworks, and it just became a big mess of traffic and people.

Sue, I would love to be there for the 4th, but I don't see it happening this year; eastern Pennsylvania is calling my name. But I will be back to Kansas sooner or later!

ksdivakat - Be glad you are not in Ohio. You can buy fireworks here, but you have to sign a form that says you won't shoot them off in the state. Talk about stupid! As for the question, I'll respectfully decline to answer because I don't want to be a downer. I'll just say that the fireworks display I go to this year will be very bittersweet.

I watch the display from my front yard which is high on the river bank across from the park where the provincial gov. puts on a grand display, BUT I watch it on July 1st, Canada Day. Used to be called Dominion Day but like everything else changes occur

Out of curiosity, Im hoping somebody knows this.....just exactly where can one take their kids to shoot of fireworks?? Isnt the deal that it has to be outside city limits?? does that mean broken arrow park is ok to shoot them off?? Where can we take the kids to so that they will be able to do this? I think its a stupid law, but, what are ya gonna do? If anyone can answer this I woould much appreciate it! Thank you

If the Royals are playing at home, I'll go to the game. Ballgame and fireworks, two for the price of one. If they are playing away I will be lurking on the road between RI and sue's, or maybe in blue's yard.ms_c: I can visualize your view of the display . . . (sigh) . . .

I see the weather report at the top of the page says "lightning observed." Is that like "[holiday] observed," where it's actually on another day, but we're moving it to today because it's more convenient and makes more people happy?
ms_canada 5 years ago
Multi and Ceallach - ms_c will even throw in lunch and dinner for no extra charge. And the price can't be beat, eh ceallach? Speaking of lunch, I had lunch today with a most charming companion. We enjoyed the sunny day out on my patio. I had a pasta salad and he had a yummy meal of sunflower seeds. The conversation was rather one sided but he did seem to pay close attention to my chatter. His little ears perked up when ever I mentioned sunflower seed butter pie. He just loves that.(just in case anyone thinks I have lost my marbles, some of you know that I love chipmunks and cater to them on my patio)
