“Probably just the sun. People need to remember to wear sunscreen.”

“I think it would be exposure to the sun and skin cancer. I don’t think most people worry about it enough.”

“In Lawrence, in the summer time, I would say poorly set up construction signs.”

“I would think that it would probably be heat stroke.”

The heat is the most dangerous thing around here every summer, especially for those who are visiting, and think it doesn't get that hot here.

acg 11 years, 12 months ago

Drinking and boating, or drinking and swimming, drinking and water skiing. Just about any water activity that involves drinking on a heavy basis. That's a dangerous combination. I can't wait for our annual float trip. :)

ms_canada 11 years, 12 months ago

Up here, I can't say heatstroke but drowning in our many, many lakes is a problem each summer. People don't watch their kids in the water.

Ciminal activity, rapes especially, breaking and entering, muggings, car-jackings and probably shootings are on the incline during the warmer months.

break ins..due to the heat poeple leave windows and doors open aat night to cool off. That sems to be an invitation to want to be thiefs.

Ha! Original Bob--it's gays who want to get married! That's what we're supposed to be afraid of this summer. They want a cake and flowers and a champagne fountain...BOO!

acg 11 years, 12 months ago

Yeah, it's contagious TOB. I read all about it recently, the only way to protect yourself and your loved ones is duct tape and plastic sheeting.

sgtwolverine 11 years, 12 months ago

agc, is it really necessary to wrap your loved ones in plastic sheeting and duct tape? That sounds pretty drastic.

Lawn mowers- My mom was mowing on one and ran over a piece of metal and it flew out and hit me in the face. A crushed cheekbone, nerve damage, and 26 stitches later I am still scared of 'em

In my neighborhood at least, it's unattended children playing in the street. Parents don't seem to teach them to watch for cars, and cars may not always be watching for rugrats. It's a recipe for tragedy.

way chunky men in speedos. So chunky you barely see the Speedo. I have nothing against fat people, I claim to be one, but please cover up.

Fangorn, nice to see you posting after your lengthy absence. With you gone, too many of the conservative voices are those like rt, who wants to call all liberals hippies, or, as he did here today, morons. Name-calling in place of sound argument. Your reasoned conservative views (misguided as they might be) have been missed.

beatrice 11 years, 12 months ago

Snakespeare on planes!

pywacket: "to be fair-- rt had a valid point." Don't lump me in with the attack on rt's mathematical prowess. I commented on rt's habit of calling others names after rt wrote, "I remember you being another one of those Larrytown liberal/socialist morons." Is this example of his name-calling what you consider to be a "valid point"?
