Should the City Commission pass a resolution criticizing the federal Patriot Act but still requiring city employees to obey the law?

“I think that’s a cop-out. If they’re going to stand up against something, they should do something about it. If not, they should keep their mouths shut.”

“It doesn’t sound like a good compromise. You can’t really say, ‘We don’t like the Patriot Act, but here we go, let’s follow it.’”

“I think it would be better to criticize it than do nothing, but to just say this sucks and still follow it, it doesn’t do anything at all.”

“I think that’s an excellent resolution, and we should pass it because dissent is patriotic. It’s a great way to go about it without breaking the law.”
