How should the next president go about improving the economy?
Asked at Massachusetts Street on March 27, 2004
“That’s a tough one because jobs are going overseas, where the labor is cheaper. The companies already get subsidies for staying here. I don’t know what more you could do to keep them here.”
“Roll back the Defense Department budget on some of these insane projects like missile defense systems … and funnel that into small businesses and other ventures to increase jobs.”
“He should ask the people who are the poorest because there are more poor people than rich people. Based on what they say, he should do something about how the economy is running.”
“I don’t think the president has as much to do with the economy as people think. … It fluctuates no matter what the president does.”
