Should downtown Lawrence be included on the National Register of Historic Places?
Asked at Massachusetts Street on January 23, 2004
“Yeah, I would say so because of the history of Bleeding Kansas and the Eldridge Hotel.”
“Sure. I honestly think this is the best place to come and shop. It’s got an atmosphere. It’s not like shopping in a mall.”
“I think it should be because unfortunately there are fewer and fewer downtowns that are reminiscent of the quintessential Midwestern downtown.”
“I think they should do it. That’s part of the Lawrence charm and history.”
