Should the United States reinstate the draft?
Asked at Massachusetts Street on November 7, 2003
“No. I don’t believe we’re involved in any conflicts that would warrant a draft at this time.”
“No, there’s enough volunteers.”
“No, I don’t, because I don’t want to get killed. If we get to the point we need to draft people, we have the choice to leave. We shouldn’t be drafting people to save face.”
“Yes. It doesn’t necessarily have to be fighting, but everyone could do two years of government service, whether it be working in hospitals or city cleanup or something. It teaches discipline and responsibility.”
