Do you think Wal-Mart is a “department store”?
Asked at Massachusetts Street on May 29, 2003
“I don’t think it’s a department store. Their sections aren’t as distinct or separate. It doesn’t provide the large sections.”
“I think they are a variety store, only because they have both clothes and groceries. I don’t think they’re just a department store.”
“Wal-Mart is definitely a department store, with different departments of things in it. We have enough Wal-Marts, anyway.”
“I’d say they are a variety store. It doesn’t seem that important to me.”
