Is substandard housing a problem in Lawrence?

“I think it is because there are a lot of houses around that the landlords don’t bother fixing up. They should pay more attention.”

“I think there’s more important issues facing Lawrence. I think we could spend our money in politics elsewhere, like fixing the streets.”

“It probably is because I know there’s a lot of places that need a lot of work. You see a lot of places run down, especially on the north side and the eastern side of Lawrence.”

“Some neighborhoods have to be exclusively for students and when the students leave they are really run-down. It’s hard for the people who actually live here.”
