Is it appropriate to change the name of french fries to freedom fries to protest the French stance on war in Iraq?
Asked at Massachusetts Street on March 12, 2003
“Absolutely not. The whole French-bashing thing is just kind of tired. It seems like a really idiotic way to be patriotic.” ”
“Yes, in fact, I think we should name the french kiss the freedom kiss … No. I think that’s just chauvinistic. It’s xenophobic, and I say vive la France!”
“I agree that there should be a stance made about the situation in Iraq, but I don’t believe renaming french fries is necessarily an effective means of doing that.”
“I think the French are not looking at the full picture about the war. We’re doing what we think is right to maintain our freedom. I think that would be cool.”
