What should the Kansas Department of Corrections do with convicted narcotics offenders addicted to drugs?
Asked at the Lawrence Public Library on March 8, 2003
“I suppose a lot of that answer would depend on if they were convicted of other crimes — if they were only dealing drugs or were connected to another criminal act.”
“I don’t think they should get off lightly. If they are going to do that, they should face the consequences like everyone else.”
“It should be more of a treatment than a conviction policy.”
“Treatment’s probably the best idea, since that’s what their problem is. If we’re trying to help them, putting them in a little cell probably won’t do the trick.”
