Is hazing a problem in high school today?
Asked at Hastings Books, Music & Video on March 3, 2003
“I don’t really think so. It’s part of growing up. It can be taken to extremes, but all in good fun it’s fine.”
“Oh, sure. Last year they had someone get their leg broken by being beaten with a board. It’s definitely a problem, but I don’t know what they can do about it. It’s a custom; it’s just something that’s always been done.”
“Depends on which one you go to. I went to Catholic school and it wasn’t that big of a deal.”
“I’d have to say no. I had a son and a daughter both go to high school in Lawrence, and I never heard of any hazing incidents, and they didn’t go through any.”
