Should the children of volunteer firefighters who die in duty receive free education at state universities and colleges?
Asked at the downtown post office, 645 Vt.: on January 21, 2003
“Yeah, I think that’s a really great idea. I’m assuming since they are volunteers they don’t have benefits. That should be a federal law.”
“You better believe it. If those firefighters have to die in the line of duty, you’d better believe I’m for it.”
“No. I don’t think that a person should benefit because of another person’s death. A person should make it on their own merits.”
“I suppose it would be nice because their father was killed in public service. It relieves the burden for the mother who has to raise them by herself.”
